One of our younger chicks, Laird, now freshly sponsored and named, is not going far from his nest box yet, and usually mum or dad are also at home.
Noelyn and Eire have taken their chick, newly sponsored and name Portia, on quite a walk and a totally different house (it is much nicer than their old one, and certainly cleaner!).
Like the other chicks, Felien has started to take walk-abouts way from his house Familie Carlier-Hens and they were nicely posing next to it when we came calling to check if all was ok. It was!
This chick has finally decided to come and peek out of his nest box and have a wander about. Mum or dad are home so it's well protected.
These are Stitches' and her mate's two chicks. They are quite big now and have started to move about a bit.
This chick is being guarded by Ewan in Spitfire Rise box and is now freshly sponsored. He is eyeing up the funny human from the safety of behind dad's back. No doubt as soon as the human has left it's party time and exploring the neighbourhood. He might encounter his neighbour chicks Sonic and Rubik, who live next door being raised by Molly and her mate.
All of us here at Penguin Rescue wish all of you penguin lovers out there a very Merry Christmas. May your lives be filled with fat and healthy penguins on this day and every day!
If you were young in the 80s and liked rock'n'roll from Ireland, you know who this lucky chick is named after!! Any guesses out there? Bono is being raised by Stewie Junior and Anna in Uncle Chang's box - and yes he is adorable.
Our penguins and their houses are so blessed by so many wonderful sponsors: case in point, this is Odd Simen with his two chicks, Lemonstreak and Moonstripe - freshly sponsored. Their mother is Butterbell and they live in Lacenest! The photo is a little bit older so the chicks are younger but so cute, yes?
These two fluffballs are growing up in the Collins Family box and like all young creatures they are quite curious about goings ons outside their house.
