Surely not, but they do it a lot, some more discreet re the camera than others! It's still day light and Anna and Stewie are at home....cuddling! Anna and Stewie have picked a spot also frequently used by seal pups passing by. The pups would only run over a penguin, so it pays to get out of the way. This time either Anna or Stewie was not aiming all that well..... The foreshore is where the action is - do go and check out live camera here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=raGhtXbJebA - the best time is about 4pm to dark when they come in and display and socialise and just as it gets light when they head out to sea.
It's not a problem - clearly - to just hop off the box when it is time to go to sea for a day's fishing. This time it's not possible to tell whether it's Ming or Peanut because the left flipper is not visible but clearly the box is the place to be! We were so pleased when we finally spotted two penguins on this box. It was likely it was Ming and her mate Peanut - not we know for sure: it's Ming on the box because she has a nick in her left flipper from when she was hurt. Yep, it's her on the box! For most of our penguins we don't really know who we are looking at when they happen to be at home during the day in winter. With these two we can say for sure because their nest is a wee bit away from the colony - the exclusive suburb if you like.
