and her mate have got a natural nest site and so far - fingers crossed - her two chicks are doing well. She is only three years old, just like her mate, and they have chosen a nest site at the base of an old tree.
yes, both eggs hatched!!! You'all know how hard he worked to achieve this! On this day Meghan was off fishing and dad was very protective of his two wee fluff balls.
She left Spencer to be with Derek (who has been very patiently waiting for a mate....) and their two chicks are grown now so we can see them. Mum was home on this day and immediately squatted closely over the chick when we came to check if they were ok. They were, all is well in Nikita's nest 2.
have finally managed to get their chicks over the line and we are very hopeful that all is well now for them. They have two chicks - although one was hiding on this day.
and her name is Poseidon. Unfortunately she lost both her chicks, and started to wander. Her mate was still on their nest keeping a dummy egg warm, but we can take that away now. It appears the divorce lawyers have already been around and she has moved out.
yes, it has reached that - oh-so-cute-it-can-sit-up stage......It has a sibling but it is hiding behind mum.
On this day Anna was home and both her chicks are so far doing well. They also were treated successfully for Diphtheria but are not out of the woods. They are such fragile wee sparks of life.
Word of caution to chick sponsors: Realising you probably want your certificates as soon as possible - they are not going to get sent out until we can be pretty sure your chick will survive. Having to send out an e-mail telling you that your sponsored chick has died is not something we want to do. We need at least another week to be certain. He bred for the first time last season and they did manage to fledge a chick. She has left him though and is breeding with Freddie, and Rio is looking after this dummy so that no jealous hostile take-overs occur when there are chicks in the nest!
The first chick photos are in and Chris and Lesley have two. They were treated for Diphtheria and are healthy for now. They are not out of the woods yet, as we have lost chicks at this stage (post-Diphtheria) and this age.
This is a special shout out to the humans Chris and Lesley who decided to mate, sorry get married recently - on 5th November. Congratulations and have a wonderful life together! These two are a new pairing - well sorta. Back in 2018 when Ewan bred for the first time it was with a young and inexperienced female: MamaPingu. They did not raise any chicks that season and went their separate ways. MamaPingu paired up with Jolie and Ewan with Shannon, and this season they are back together. Jolie pick himself a pretty young thing called Kev and he'll be showing her the ropes!
