  •  Sponsor a Yellow-eyed Penguin in rehab : $150

It costs $5 a day to feed and medicate a Yellow-eyed Penguin at the rehabilitation facility and they stay an average of 30 days.

  • Buy food and medication for one day for a penguin in rehab: $5

On average each penguin needs $5 worth of food and medication each day. At Penguin Rescue rehab facility we prefer to feed salmon (20cm long) as this enables a penguin to gain 1kg per week once it has been cured of any sickness and any wounds are healing.

  • Buy one transponder: $12

Every breeding adult, every chick and every penguin in rehab are marked with a transponder or chip that has a unique 12 digit number. They are inserted with a needle under the skin in the neck of the penguin and are read with a transponder reader. This allows us to identify each penguin and record its history providing vital data on breeding success and survival.

The transponder is inside this needle and inserted under the skin. The hole is glued shut with superglue to ensure the chip does not fall out later.
  • Donate a cabbage tree $50

For $50, you can donate a cabbage tree which will go towards providing sanctuary for penguins.
