No mucking about when the seas are rough

​Hello friends and family
Last week good fortune aligned, and I had a wonderful week in Queenstown with family. We arrived on Sunday and did a tour of Queenstown on Monday before it began to snow. On Tuesday we woke to a winter wonderland – snow on the road, the deck and even the lakeshore. We gave Olivia rides on the slopes of the local park and built a few snowmen.

​On Wednesday, it was up the gondola to do 6 rides on the luge. I was the slowest! Thursday was the day to go up the mountains to the Remarkables Ski field. It was a magical day – sunshine, no wind, and lots of happy people. On Friday I had a walk along the lake shore and on Saturday we went to Glenorchy to admire the spectacular scenery. On Sunday I came home again. Wow!

Winter food for bellbirds

​The team took care of the place and we caught up on Tuesday to plan our next project which was to plant some trees. On Thursday we got the job done. We are now in the 2021 /22 penguin season – no penguins in care which is great, but a lot of admin to do which works well because it is very cold outside at the moment.

On the landing

The penguins are all out fishing and so pictures are hard to get. I have installed a trail camera on the landing so hopefully, will do better net week.
